About the competition: A tripartate challenge
The Scottish Plumbing Apprentice of the Year competition is Scotland's foremost event for plumbing apprentices. Hosted this year by South Lanarkshire College, the contest is structured to evaluate apprentices' practical abilities across three distinct categories: Copper, Lead, and Renewable Technologies.
The competition, supported by the plumbing and heating profession, its supply chain, and academic institutions, is dedicated to nurturing the competencies of apprentices engaged in plumbing studies across Scotland.
Competition day dynamics
Following the competition, a panel of seasoned judges deliberates to determine the winners, awarding third, second, and first places within each category. The accolade of Scottish Plumbing Apprentice of the Year is bestowed upon the victor of each category, marking a significant milestone in their burgeoning careers.
Category Sponsors
For this year's competition, we are pleased to announce that BPEC, MCS and City Plumbing have joined us as category sponsors.
BPEC has become the sponsor of the newly rebranded SkillPLUMB Copper Category, which will serve as Scotland’s qualifying heat for the UK-wide SkillPLUMB competition.
MCS will now sponsor SPAY's renewable technologies category, opening pathways for apprentices to explore opportunities with low-carbon technology.
City Plumbing have agreed to sponsor the competition's lead category, highlighting the importance of leadwork as an enduring element of the profession.
