National Occupational Standards (NOS) are statements of the scope of competence that individuals must achieve when carrying out functions in the workplace, together with specifications of the underpinning knowledge and understanding.
NOS are developed for employers by employers through the relevant standards setting organisation and are reviewed by industry every five years to ensure they are still fit for purpose. Skills Development Scotland appointed Building Services Engineering (BSE) Skills UK Ltd (SNIPEF, SECTT and BESA) to carry out a review of the National Occupational Standards to ensure they were still fit for purpose for the needs of the electrical, plumbing, and heating and ventilation industry.
