Scottish Government Delay Technical Handbooks Updates

The expected update of the Scottish Building Standards and Technical handbooks for domestic and non-domestic buildings in Scotland have been pushed back, from December 2022 to February 2023.

The changes will apply to building warrants applied for after 1 February 2023 and to work carried out on existing buildings from this date. There is a particular focus on Section 6 (Energy) of the building standards to support the ambition of net zero. There are also planned updates to associated standards with the Building Service Compliance Guide being updated, this is a guidance document aimed at heating systems in buildings Domestic Building Services Compliance Guide 2022.pdf - Google Drive, the planned guidance can be found here.
