Home Energy Scotland to stop accepting hybrid heat pump applications
February 5, 2025
The Scottish Government has announced that from Tuesday, 4 March 2025, new applications for hybrid heat pumps will no longer be accepted under either the Home Energy Scotland Grant and Loan Scheme or the Private Rented Sector Landlord Loan Scheme.
Following recent updates to the MCS Heat Pump Design Standard regarding hybrid heat pumps, the Scottish Government has decided to withdraw funding for this measure under these schemes. This decision ensures that the limited funding available is directed towards clean heating and energy efficiency measures that deliver the greatest reductions in emissions within homes.
Applicants who received a referral link to either scheme before Tuesday, 4 February 2025, will have until 23:59 on Monday, 3 March 2025, to apply for funding to install a hybrid heat pump. Those referred on or after Tuesday, 4 February 2025, will not be eligible to apply for this measure.
Applicants who have already received a written offer of funding will not be affected by this change, and their claims will continue to be processed as normal.
The schemes remain open to applications for other measures, including air source, water source and ground source heat pumps, as well as energy efficiency improvements, provided they meet the standard terms and conditions in place.
