Countdown to SPAY 50 begins

The finalists have now been confirmed for the Scottish Plumbing Apprentice of the Year (SPAY) competition which will take place on Friday, 13 June at South Lanarkshire College.

BPEC SkillPLUMB: A competition within SPAY

The copper category at SPAY 50 doubles as the Scottish final of the BPEC SkillPLUMB competition, a prestigious UK-wide skills event that identifies and celebrates the best plumbing apprentices across the country.

This new ‘competition within a competition’ gives apprentices the opportunity to progress to the national stage and, potentially, to represent the UK at WorldSkills.

TechTalk Glasgow comes to SPAY 50


For the first time, SNIPEF’s popular TechTalk series will be held at SPAY. This special event will bring together leading industry experts to share insights on energy efficiency, system design and best practice in boiler installations and performance.

Open to all members and non-members, TechTalk Glasgow will be held at SPAY from 8.30am-11.30am offers a valuable opportunity to stay informed on the latest development shaping the profession as well as the chance to meet the apprentices competing at SPAY 50 and visit our Exhibition Village.

Breakfast rolls and coffee will also be served.

Session One: Understanding boiler installation needs

This session will examine the early stages of a boiler installation, with each speaker addressing a different step in the process. It will illustrate how strategic planning and product selection can significantly influence energy efficiency from the outset.

Session Two: Optimising boiler performance

Building on the first session, this session will explore how system design, water quality and ongoing monitoring contribute to efficiency gains.
