Connor Cruden, from Cowie Plumbing and Heating, was awarded the Medallion for Excellence at this year’s WorldSkills plumbing contest after a two-year wait to take part in the global showcase. Connor won his place in the international contest when he was an apprentice and became the SkillPLUMB champion in 2019.

After a tightly fought contest, he came seventh out of 20 plumbing and heating finalists from around the world. Connor had this to say about the competition: “I had trained hard, and I entered the contest confidently. I’d like to thank SNIPEF for all the help, assistance, and encouragement they provided to get me to this point – and also for a very generous, and very unexpected, financial consideration they gave me to mark my effort”.

SNIPEF are very proud of Connor’s achievements and hope his story can inspire people to start an apprenticeship and make their own contribution to our outstanding industry.
