Day Work Rates: What are they?

Day work rates are the ‘prime cost of labour’. You can use the day work table as a guide to work out what the real cost of employment is for you during work carried out. To arrive at an hourly charge-out rate for your customers you need to factor in additional costs to cover your general overheads (such as employee travel, or accommodation and any non-employment costs such as administration, supervision, materials etc) and your profit element.

Day Work Rates from April 2022

Calculated in accordance with a formula agreed between the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) and the Scottish & Northern Ireland Plumbing Employers' Federation (SNIPEF) based on the Definition of Prime Cost of Day Work carried out under a building contract, please click here for a copy of the Day Work Rates applicable from April 2022 in the Members’ section of the website.
